PRANAM - We all belongs to UttarakhandDear Chauhan'Ji,
I think when a task is accomplished with efforts....It is called or presumed as success..........

"Kumbh Mela" is not so and so.. (As written by you: 500+ crore rupees on this), It is bigger and longest fair even than International Trade-Fair in New Delhi (India).
Not only Indian's but people around the world join this fair, and may have more problem then you.
I hope you have read the NEWS in all major newspapers and media NEWS channels that a gropu of 50+ forigners visiting Haridwar for it from abroad stayed at Raja'ji National park, for 10-14 days during this.

I agreed with your rest of the points that basic eminities must be provided by the state govt. where it is not succeded.

Never compare this to that.............

Subject: [PGG] Regarding Kumbh Mela

Dear All,

Present UK govt is projecting kumbh mela as huge success.
For me it is successful administrative task. And any govt with sensible people should be able to do it.
But spending 500+ crore rupee on this is not justifiable in any situation.
I was never able to get drinking water in Haridwar bus station during my journey from dehli to chamoli. On top of that there is no bus station for the people traveling to Pahadi district. All GMOU and other private buses operator never had a permanent bus stand in Haridwar.
Can govt make basic water and lavatory facility available there for pahadi public in haridwar which is gateway of UK ?

Dear Vishwa Ji
Since, I very rarely visit Garhwal, I shall not talk about what is there, which party is better or worst and what should be the best .
But would like to talk
To spend money on Kumbh is not any political compulsion but an administrative compulson
Organizing Kumbh is duty of any state goverment
Secondly Kumbh or any religious events is benefecial to state for many reasons of tourist revinew and Branding of the state
Therefore spending on Kumbh should not be related to other aspects of development
For example, many learned people say ," Why is goverment organizing Winter Plympik in Auli etc ?/" Without knowing the fact that such events pay to state in long run for tourism branding

Dear Satendraji,

I would like to point out the DMK has
been in power in Tamil Nadu, one of the strongest states in our country,
now for several decades, though I would not go all out to praise this
party. On the other hand, whatever its merits or otherwise, I do feel that UKD
deserves your sympathy if not support because it is the party that reaches
out to people in the hills. It is the party that speaks and promotes Garhwali
Kumaoni language. That this party is not able to stand united against predators
from the plains is a defect of all paharis, not just this party.

I have great respect for Diwakar Bhat
who went on hunger strike for his political ends, this was the method used by
Mahatmaji against the British. I can see very clearly that shri Gadkari has not
been fasting a lot !

Omgopal Rawat is not only very young
and dynamic, he is also remarkably free of corruption. He is very open and has
very simple life style, unlike Mr. Subodh Uniyal whom he beat by mere five
votes. Omgopal is also free from the influence of various mafias that have a
stronghold on the lives of ordinary citizens.

I have great respect for these leaders.
I have great respect for Negiji who with his Nauchemi Narayana totally debunked
the NDT regime, showing that poetry can win over paisa!

However, the present govt spent 500
crores on Maha Kumbh. Whom did this mela benefit? The naga sadus? The hordes
from plains who left behind mountains garbage? Many of the Kumbh projects are
being completed only now, after the kumbh is over. The pahari people do not need
melas. They need hand pumps so that women folk do not have to walk kilometers
carrying water. They need roads so that the women can reach hospitals in good
time when their labour pains start.

It is one thing to talk politics on the
internet, yet another to live the life of ordinary people, to share and
understand their daily lives.

I think all peaples of Uttarakhand living in or
out are agreed with your views.

But I think diiferently over this, either it is a
Congress/BJP/ Regional Party, then Election GHOSNRA PATRA of all the
parties must be clearly readed and understood, any amendments required must be
cleared with the party.
Then elect any SINGLE PARTY, Be United before and
after.

Reigonal Parties are not sucessful in making the
long-term plans for any state.
They just came and
go.......... ..
Please name a state where regional part
sucessfully serives and does the things in favor of that state
sucessfully. ......... ......

DON'T BE DIVIDED, BE
UNITED...... ......... ....IN ALL THE
DECISIONS... ........

Dear Friends,First of all we must understand that general elections are
near, so, each party has to gear up itself to bein limelight. What
better than mudslinging. General public does get fooled by such moderated
political campaigns.1. Does the
nationalpoliticalpa rties have guts to table their report
with facts and figures and then let a non-political think tank take a fair
view.2. The worst that happened with Uttarakhand is total control of
national parties with national agenda minus local issues.3. These national
parties are controlled from Delhi by high command and each decision is taken
in its unique way.4. Unfortunately, UKD, the only regional party did not get
that support and by their functioning, it is unlikely to come in power.5.
If, a regional party is strong, then, national parties decisions can not be
thrust upon the state.6. Uttarakhand has seen BJP and Congress elected
governance minus the default BJP govt. that ruled in buffer
>period
afterseparationfrom UP.7. Only one last chance
remains with the citizens of Uttarakhand. Elect, i repeat elect a regional
party, and bring them in majority, for once.8. If not then a five
yearstandardrotatio n of BJP and Congress governance will
continue, and over the period of time, same game will repeat.9. Public
will crib, politicians from national parties will have a hearty laugh, and
by then endless blogs and emails would have been exchanged, bringing the
same issues, again and again. So, i appeal the citizens of Uttarakhand to
think and act now, or it will be never. Dreams will remain dreams. They will
never become reality. I sometime wonder, what did i get as a participant of
civil movement for aseparatehill state of Uttarakhand. Nothing
but one reality that development is far away than imagined.

Surprisingly!! Pala-Maneri still going on ( RTI evidence )

Dear all NGRBA members,
Recently we have sent this RTI to the minister ( MoEF) which surprisingly
show the violation of state order as well as the declaration of the
cancellation of pala-maneri by the ministry.
Blasting is still going on pala-maneri for the construction of road for
pala-maneri project.
plz look at the attached RTI filed by Ganga Ahvaan, which is the
evidence that the work on Pala-Maneri is still going on by Uttarakhand jal
vidhut nigam(UJVN) after suspension by state govtt. in June 2008 and further
it was declared for cancellation by MoEF.
This is a big Hypocrisy of State Govtt. and also disregard to their own
democracy in state as well as Environment Ministry and NGRBA.
Also this is a shameful question mark on the credibility of the decision
by MoEF and centre govtt.

plz find the attachments and pursue it to ministry for immediate action.

Dear All,
For many months, I have been collecting data of Uttarakhandi eligible bachelors and distributing them to various groups through all possible medium
As you are aware too that there has been 180 degree changes in the parameters for finding a suitable/bride or groom.
While, we changed our parameters according to time and place and our classes, the JanmPatri Milan or Horoscope matching still persists. This one aspect is main hurdle in marriage matching proposals
May know from you тАЬis there any relevancy of Janmpatri Matching ?тАЭ

Dear Group Member's
I think still now the families believe in Horoscope (Janmpatri) matching.
As in my younger brother case who is going to be engaged 28th of this month, It took 5th relation and more than a year due to it.

Still major UK families give prefrence to Stability than Oppurtunities in life (especially for their daughter)
Clerk/Assitant of Govt. Office is much better than Manager in Private Co. to them).

Pls. ignore if not agreed.
It is personally my experience, no discussion / comments required.

Fear of the unknown.

The astrology / janampatri milan works just like the placebos in medicine.
No one can know what the future holds for him or her, the astrology /
numerology just give some solace to this fear of unknown.

So I think as long as it gives the people the feeling of well being, I see
no harm in resorting to it.

Subject: [PGG] Why Discriminations with Garhwali-Kumaoni Women?

Why Discrimination s with Garhwali-Kumaoni Women?
For last three four months, I have been coming in contact with different demographic elements in our society for search of marriage match proposals . I am pained to write that even in this globalization era we are not treating females as they are deserved. I found following discriminations with females from garhwali Kumaoni males
1- Ukh ta Jananee Padhani cha: In many cases, due to reasons as male partner is not alive, male does not take much interest in marriage match proposals, the female (mother, sister or bhabhi) has to lead in talking for marriage match proposals . In this case, every where I heard "Forget that proposal because the female is leader in this house ---ukh at kajyani fundyanath bani cha ar kajyanyun se bi in kam theek hond?" I am surprised today, Garhwali-Kumaoni women are entrepreneurs, managers, principles and so on but the male oriented mentality still does not pay due respects to our females in Mumbai
2- Intercaste marriage: Intercaste marriage is common now not only in Mumbai , Delhi but in Garhwal too. Here also our society in Mumbai has discriminating attitude towards females .
A- Boys are less criticized for intercaste marriages than girls or we may say boy carrying intercaste marriage is accepted easily than girls . Why this difference towards females?
B- In most of the cases, I witnessed that people are ready to propose their girls in the family where boys have married outside caste girls but hesitate or say no to for bride where girl has married outsider. Why this inequity ?
C- Same is the case with the children of intercaste married couples. People are ready to marry their daughters to such children of intercaste married couples but do not provide preference to girls of intercaste married couples for bringing bahu in their house . Is it not unfair on part of society ?

This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end!:

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college  degree.

The last  class I had to take was Sociology.

The teacher  was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human  being had been graced with.

Her last  project of the term was called, 'Smile.'

The class was  asked to go out and smile at three people and document their  reactions.

I am a very  friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So, I  thought this would be a piece of cake,   literally.

Soon after we  were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to  McDonald's one crisp March morning.

It was just  our way of sharing special playtime with our son.

We were  standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone  around us began to back away, and then
even my  husband did.

I did not  move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me  as I turned to see why they had moved.

As I turned  around I smelled a horrible 'dirty body' smell, and there standing  behind me were two poor homeless men.

As I looked  down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was  'smiling'

His beautiful  sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for  acceptance.

He said,  'Good day' as he counted the few coins he had been  clutching.

The second  man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the  second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his  salvation.

I held my tears as I stood there  with them.

The young lady at the counter  asked him what they wanted.

He said, 'Coffee is all Miss'  because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the  restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be  warm).

Then I really felt it - the  compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man  with the blue eyes..

That is when I noticed all eyes in the   restaurant were set on me, judging   my every action.

I smiled and asked the young lady  behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate  tray.

I then walked around the corner to  the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on  the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold  hand.

He looked up at me, with tears in  his eyes, and said, 'Thank you.'

I leaned over, began to pat his  hand and said, 'I did not do this for you. God is here working through  me to give you hope.'

I started to cry as I walked away  to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, 'That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope.'

We held hands for a moment and at  that time, we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given  were we able to give.

We are not church goers, but we  are believers.

That day showed me the pure Light  of God's sweet love.

I returned to college, on the last  evening of class, with this story in hand.

I turned in 'my project' and the  instructor read it.

Then she looked up at me and said,  'Can I share this?'

I slowly nodded as she got the  attention of the class.

She began to read and that is when  I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to  heal people and to be healed.

In my own way I had touched the  people at McDonald's, my son,the instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student.

I graduated with one of the  biggest lessons I would ever learn:

UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.

Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to

LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS -

NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

Re: is there relevancy of janmPatri Milan ???

Janma Patri Milan is for arranged marriages only. This will also go. We have
now inter cast marriages. Many of our sons and daughters are marrying
outside the cast with or without parental permission. The spread of
education particularly among women will further increase this trend.

However, it is entirely up to the families concerned to have or not have
Janam Patri Milan. The success or otherwise o a marriage depends on many
other issues. Unfortunately it is the girl who suffers most in a bad
marriage. Parents of girls must ensure good professional educations for them
so that they are financially independent and may stand of their own in times
of need. At that time it will be her education and not her Janam Patri which
will help her.
