Dear PG Group Members,

I think we all know what is the reason. But we aren't sure till todays how to overcome the migration. I also think that uttarakhandis settled in cities/metro cities hardly think about uttarakhand. It's a bitter fact I really mean to say.
I remember my father used to say that one day he will returned to his village but..... he didn't.
Let's share this problem.

Au Contraire my friend,
Ex pats do think and dream about their homeland.More often than not it is logistically not possible to get back. One settles in a new area and builds a new life for him and his family.Consequently new roots form in new places and it is not easy to get back.
It's a dilemma for us all.
Vijay Anthwal

Dear Ved Ji,
It is nice to read, my father also say this but it is not possible him to leave his family because now his family settled here and has many grandson & daughter playing ever with him. It is very difficult to leave them. As my father come to Delhi in his childhood they would think after earning some money he would go to his Garwal but after time passed he would busy to earn his livelihood but even one thing I would like to say he has special affection for his village and it's people.

Thanks & regards,Mukesh Gusain

Mukesh ji and Ved ji,

We all live in this kind of dillema and face this situation. Unfortunate thing is that no one goes back to his or her ancestral village once they have a place to live. No matter where the live, but they always make an effort to live out side the village. People use all kinds of excuses for not going back. Believe me if there is an effective desire to go back then there will be no stopping. Unfortunately, the desire is not effective enough either on your father or on Mr Badola's father.

By the way Uttarakhandis are not alone to feel this way. Most Indians feel this way. I have met several Indians who say that they cannot live overseas and that they want to go back to India and live there. They say that they living out because of their children and so on. Thus, excuses and excuses. They change this rehtoric as soon as they get a Green card or settle down a little bit better in the new land.

There will be a counter migration steam for Uttarakhand villages when life in the villages gets better than elsewhere. Remeber migration cannot be stopped until the relative value of new place falls bellow the value of ancestral village.

Regards,
Mohan Negi
