Editorial Literature in Garhwali Language - 3
Editorials of Vimal Negi
Bhishma Kukreti
The language, the subject and style of expression of editor changes
according to periodical which , the editor is editing apart from his views
or need . The changes and style variation of various editorials of each
editor could bee witnessed in Garhwali literature too. The variations in
editorials is clearly visible in the type of periodicals as Ishwari Prasad
Uniyal (Gdha Aina a daily newspaper), Ishwari Prasad Uniyal (Rant Raibar , a
weekly more on news ), Madan Duklan (Literature oriented irregular magazine)
, ), Puran pant Pathik (Garhwalai Dhai, a weekly literature and social
concern oriented) , Vimal Negi ( Uttarakhand Khabar Sar, a fortnightly
newspaper but more orientation to language and literature ) and other
magazines being published randomly ( This author is in search of editorials
of Sateshwar Azad of Maiti and requesting the editorials of Dhad ) .
Intellectual discussion about language is a must for a forwarding
community. Vimal Negi the editor of Uttarakhand Khabar Sar, Pauri (This
fortnight newspaper in tabloid form completed ten years in 1999) Negi
supports intellectual discussions specially related to Garhwali literature.
There have been discussion initiated by Bhishma Kukreti " Awa Garhwali
Bhasha tain Moran se Bachawa and Dr Nand Kishor Dhoundiyal, Khusahal Singh
Rawat , poet Preetam Apachhyanm, poet sushi Pokhariyal, storywriter Balendy
Badola et all; discussion (Ghaprol between Sudama Prasad Premi, discussion
(Ghaprol) between Dr Mahaveer Prasad Gairola, a discussion (Ghaprol )
between Bhishma Kukreti verses Narendra Kathait and vimal Negi due in Khabar
Sar .
Vimal Negi plays four roles for Khabar Sar - a poet, a financial
manager to publish the paper, a writer who writes various burning issues and
an editor.
It is difficult for providing the review of each editorial from 2000 till
date. The review of few editorials of Vimal Negi from Khabar Sar are as
under :
Byau Karijou ma Badlau : The society , culture changes is universal and will
always change time to time. However, there are many changes which, don't
become leverage in forwarding the community. One of the changes in cultural
aspects of Garhwalis is showmanship in marriage procession and marriage
events. Vimal Negi illustrates competently with full knowledge and
convincing words about his concern many wrong changes at the time of
marriage party and marriage event. The biggest damage is losses in
auspicious nature of marriage. *
*Kongres ki Kugat (1 -15 Jan 2008): vimal Negi explores the reasons in depth
the various behind the Congress loosing assembly election
Kendra ma ar Pradeshma Chunau ko Budget ( 1- 15 March 2008) : looking at the
coming Lok Sabha election, the central government and Uttarakhand government
too provide many popular facilities and popular commitment. Negi talked
about the opportunistic ways of working by political parties. Vimal Negi
showed his anger on opposition parties of Uttarakhand who, instead of
raising issues in Vidhan Sabha, bent upon disturbing Vidhan sabha and were
busy raising issues on the road.
Badli ge Nepal ( 15 April-0 April 2008) : Maoists won the election in Nepal
and they formed new government and detach nepal being a Hindu nation. Since,
Nepal is neighboring nation to Uttarakhand and Nepalis are a major working
force in all areas of Uttarakhand including rural Uttarakhand , sensitive
Uttarakhandi has to be aware about various political and social changes in
Nepal . Vimal negi discusses various issues about present scenerio in Nepal
and future would be effects .
Vishv Vidyalay Adhiniyam par Ghapla (1- 15 May 2008) : Vimal Negi discusses
the issue of new act , the deterioting situation in Vidhan sabha where
opposition members acted uncivilized way, the mentality of staf in
universities of Uttarakhand. Vimal Negi showed his worries about the
uncivilized behaviours of elected and so called civilized legislators, the
worsening education system.
Mausam ki Mar (15 may -31 may 2008; Every human is experiencing changes in
the pattern of season. Vimal Negi talks about human's unwanted
encroachments on the nature, right step and social responsibilities to
overcome the situation.
Bina Muddaun chunau ( 1-15 April 2009) Analyzing the battle between NDA and
UPA coalition in election campaign of recent Lok Sabha election, Vimal
Negi showed his concern over the election campaign without any national and
people oriented issues by both the alliances.
UPA ki Jai Ho ! (1 May 16 May 2009): When UPA , defeating NDA won the Lok
Sabha election , Vimal Negi analysis the results of election
Ar Das Salai Jatra Puri Hwege (16th May -331 May 2009): On completion of ten
years by Khabar Sar, Negi tells the ups and downs in running a Garhwali
fortnightly papers, the contributing and non contributing behaviours of
people for growth of own language, and concludes that unless there is
cooperation and contribution from all sects the langue or its medium cant
grow or progress.
Bhajapai tain kya Hwe (15 -31 August 2009) : Vimal Negi explores the infight
among BJP leadershipn, caders for the reason of Jaswant Sing appreciating
Jinna in his book
Kaldhungi ko Sabak (15-31 August 2009): It is concern for all that once, the
inhabitants never used locks on their houses and murder was not heard in the
region before a few years back.. But new culture and money brought newer
types of crimes in hills of Uttarakhand. There was murder of Block Pramukh
of kaldhungi , Nainital and the people in rage burnt the police chauki .
Vimal negi raises the issue of increase in crime in Pahad and decrease in
sensitivity of police and people as well.
Azadi ka Saath Sal (1-15 august 2009) : Vimal Negi reviews the results of
independence from the perspective of India, Uttarakhand and Garhwal and as
usual finds many negative points . Vimal also scores about frustration of
citizen for non fulfillment of their aspirations even after formation of
separate Uttarakhand. *
*Ab Ram ka Ram Par Babal (1-15 September 2009) At this time , there was
discussion about the Setu Samudram (Bridge from India to Shri lanka ) Vimal
Negi raises the pros and cons of the events and concludes that the act of
central government's statement of central government to Supreme court was
wrong.
The above titles are enough to speak that Vimal Negi writes his editorial
on contemporary subjects and takes burning issues of human, national,
provincial ,local and interest s. Only question to be asked Vimal Negi
whether the readers of Khabar Sar read the editorial which are already
discussed in various media. Second issue is that in his poetry, other write
ups related to local issues or story, Vimal Negi uses Garhwali phrases with
use but don't use Garhwali phrases much in his editorial. Vimal Negi depends
on Hindi editorial vocabulary more than creating Garhwali editorial
vocabulary. Otherwise his editorials are well researched, well thought,
focused, well constructed. Editorial of Negi are not inferior in any angle
than editorials of Amar Ujala Uttarakhand edition or Janjagaran Uttarakhand
editions.
From intellectuality point of view, Negi talks intellectually
in his editorial and he shall be remembered forever in the history of
Garhwali language for his services to initiate intellectual discussion in
Garhwali .

Editorial of Devendra
Joshi *
* Bhishma Kukreti
Devendra Joshi is a poet, a literature commentator, writer
and associate editor of Chitthi Patri a Garhwali language Magazine , Before
Chitthi Patri , Devendra was connected to Dhad a Garhwali language magazine
till the magazine closed down. His contribution to Garhwali literature is
immense .apart from creative contribution, he collects Garhwali literature
wherever it is available and preserves them in his library . Devendra Joshi
believes that creating Garhwali literature is not enough. For the
progressive progress of Garhwali literature , it is utmost important that
there is publicity for literature and the literature is distributed to the
readers. There should be concern for a culture in creating sizable
readership . For making a culture in developing readership for Garhwali
literature, Devendra Joshi takes part in Melas/Fairs of Dehradun and
decorate stalls there to sell and publicize the garhwali books and
periodicals. Garhwali literature will never forget the unique service of
Devendra Joshi for creating readership for the language literature .
Since, he is very much attached to Chitthi-Patri magazine, when Madan
Duklan is busy with other creative activities , Devendra Joshi contributes
for writing editorial of Chitthi Patri. . This athor has three issues of
chitthi Patri wherein Devendra wrote editorial
Chitthi Patri (July-September 1999) a special issue on Sainya Parampara
(Armed forces) : The issue was dedicated to Kargil battle. Smartly, Joshi
briefed about culture of Garhwalis and Kumaonis serving in armed forces,
importance of bravery, importance of being abrave and sacrificing community.
He brifed about sacrifies of individual Jawans of Uttarakhand and their acts
of chivalry in Kargil. He paid tribute to martyred of Kargil battle and
calls to be sensitive about the sacrifice of armed forces. Devendra did call
the young community fellows to enter in the armed forces too.
Chitthi Patri (April-June 2000) a special issue on Nanda jat Jatra: Devendra
Joshi briefs the readers about the value of Nanda jatra and call the
creative writers for contributing in Garhwali literature.
Chitthi Patri (July- September 2000): a creative not only deals with present
situation but he judges or guesses on the effects of future because of
present. . In his editorial title " Bindi Khano Jogi he, Paili Vasa Bhukha
Rai', Devendra joshi masterly thrashes out on the issue of capital of
Uttarakhand. On that time , the confusion was capital to be established in
Dehrdun or Nainital. Devendra cautions the people not to be involved in
dividing Kumauni and Garhwali communities in the name of capital. Devendra
advocated for Gair Sain as an appropriate capital of Uttarakhand
As usual, devendra also failed in collecting Garhwali words which would be
useful for making editorial vocabulary in Garhwali language. No doubt, his
editorial titles are in Garhwali proverbs.as twe khuni Salute, ' Bhindi
Khano Jogi he , Paila Vasa Bhukha rai"
Three editorials of Devendra Joshi to show that Joshi has knowledge,
social awareness, can guess about the future and in few words can describe
the focused big subject and issues.
