Agree wholeheartedly. If the money can not be used for Alok's treatment which it doesn't seem likely then a trust fund should be set up for future worthy causes.

I ALSO STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE AMOUNT MUST NOT BE TRANSFERED TO MR. BHARATI'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT. And in future also, all help will go directly to hospital and not to the individuals as earlier the money was misused by the parient's family

Dear Mr. K. S. Rawat
Earlier we have informed that Mr. Bharati has checked all the hospital and didnt get any positive result in his son's case and thats why finally he went to APOLLO and now suddenly he want his son's treatment in AIIMS, why didnt he approached AIIMS in first instance.
Anyways if Mr. Bharati (alok's father) is no more interested to do treatment of his son in Apollo, that's fine. If he trust AIIMS doctor, i dont have any problem our major concern is that alok must get cured.
I just want to say when earlier we have decided to give money to the hospital and not to Mr. Bharati then why you people have changed your decision (if possible do share the reason for doing this).
Transferring Rs. 10,000 for tests is okey. But when alok will get admit in AIIMS for treatment we can convey our willingness to concerned authority in AIIMS that we would like to help financialy this patient (but before taking estimates of treatment). I dont think AIIMS will say no to it.
You people have done a lot work in this, so why just to wrap things you are making same mistake again.
I STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE AMOUNT MUST NOT BE TRANSFERED TO MR. BHARATI'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT.
Regards,
Ragini

Dear All Group Members & Donors:
Apni Bhasha….Apna Log
This is to inform you all that PG Group Trustees & Board Members had a meeting at the Garhwal Bhawan on 5th July, 2008. As you may perhaps aware that PG Group, in association with UANA, has managed to collect Rs.1.5 Lacs for the treatment of Master Alok who is suffering from heart problem and need to undergo surgery at Apollo or AIIMS New Delhi. As informed earlier, patient's father, Mr. Bharti, has been requesting for transferring the money into his personal account but so far we have not transferred any amount into his personal account as PG Group is a registered group & also liable to file yearly income tax return with the Income Tax Department, hence money cannot be given to the patient's family directly. It can be given to the hospital authorities only once the request from the hospital is received by the PG Group.
I would like to inform you that the money has been collected based on the reports and estimates given by the Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. Mr. Bharti is no more interested in admitting his son at the Apollo Hospital saying that the doctors are not giving him any assurance of chances of survival of the patient.
For the members concerned, approx. Rs. 45,000/- are lying with the PG Group account and Rs.1.09 Lacs are with UANA, USA account. From the beginning we have been requesting the members/donors to either donate the money directly to the patient's family or thru the PG Group.
In the meeting it was decided that as a special case, an amount of Rs.10000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) will be given to the patient's family for getting the necessary tests done at AIIMS. Cheque for the above amount will be given to Mr. Bharti once we receive a letter from him.
I had a talk with the patient's father, Mr. Suresh Bharti, and conveyed him the decision taken by the PG GROUP TRUST. He is coming to Delhi today or tomorrow and the cheque will be handed over to him after receiving his request in writing. Balance amount will be given to him only after receiving proof of tests conducted by AIIMS or any other hospital.
This is for your information please.

I got this mail from some other group member, and send it to PGG group immediately, without checking the status of this mail.
I even tried to check any rule exist from internet search, but found nothing.
So it may be a rumour, spreading throgh internet or by other media.
Anyway, thanks for your correction and verification. In future, I will take care of such things.

Dear Sati Ji,
This piece of information, as available on the net, does not appear to be factually correct. As per the net version of this judgment, the date of judgment has been shown to be 23/02/2007 and case number has been mentioned as Appeal (civil ) 919 of 2007. However, a quick followup of the said reference on the courtnic site shows this to be an indirect tax matter and apparently not pertaining to the subject matter. The said judgment is in the case of Share Medical Care and pertains to customs duty exemption of certain medical equipments by charitable hospitals.

Sir,
Thanks for your mail but the new research in USA has proved that unless
until body demands water do not drink it. The reason is excess water intake
distrupts the work of blood cells in the body and the protein which forms in
this process goes washed up due to this water. Plus it inflates the stomach
and body acculmulates soft layers of skin which should rather be hard to
penetrate.
Please see the mail today of last 15 days, it carries the source of info.
Thanks...
P.S This info given is subject to verification and these are not my views
personally. This is what the newspaper info says.

Basmati rice charts a new course for marketing traditional knowledge
The Financial Express, June 25, 2007
New Delhi, India
World may still be debating on how effectively to commercialise traditional knowledge for the benefit of all stakeholders, but Basmati rice in India has shown the way.
Appropriate policy support and assured markets for a premium price have helped to preserve and conserve the traditional knowledge of basmati and commercialise it on a large-scale benefiting all stakeholders.
The long grain aromatic basmati rice grown in India and Pakistan has a premium market in the world. Though the annual production of Basmati rice in both the countries is around 2 million tonne, it commands a market size of over $1,167 million. Over the years, scientists have evolved some high yielding varieties of Basmati to ensure higher production, but the consumer preference is particularly for brown traditional basmati varieties. European Union, particularly, is in favour of duty derogation for import of Basmati having pure parental lines.
Some commonly known traditional basmati varieties in India areBasmati-370, Basmati-386, Type-3, Taraori, Basmati (HPC-19), Basmati-217 and Ranbir Basmati (IET-11348). Evolved Indian Basmati varieties arePusa Basmati-1 (IET-1064), Punjab Basmati-1 (Bauni Basmati), Haryana Basmati-1 (HKQ-228/IET-10367), Mahi Sugandhi, Kasturi and Super Basmati.
Among largely traded traditional varieties, Pakistan has Kernal Basmati and Super Basmati as an evolved variety.
It is a unique partnership where all stakeholdersfarmers, industry and exportersstand to benefit in cultivation of Basmati. It is an example of how traditional knowledge can be effectively be conserved and commercialised, says RS Seshadri of Tildariceland, a leading exporter of Basmati rice.
Some experts are of the view that Basmati rice was traditionally grown in Dehradun region in the Uttarakhand state and later began to be cultivated in other parts undivided India during the British regime. However, today, Basmati is the common heritage of both India and Pakistan and both these countries are planning to jointly claim rights for geographical indications (GIs) for this aromatic long grain rice.
Traditional Basmati varieties, however, began practically going out of cultivation in Uttarakhand as farmers switched over to growing high yielding varieties of grains with application of chemicals. Rapid urbanisation and loss of farmlands was another factor.
The situation took a U-turn from year 2000, when Uttarakhand government set up its Organic Commodities Board and encouraged cultivation of traditional Basmati rice through organic farming.
The Board arranged for collection of seeds of traditional Basmati varieties and selected two varieties namely Dehraduni and Taraori for largescale cultivation in Dehradun and Udhamsingh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand. The result was that till date more than 1000 farmers in about 170 villages are growing traditional Basmati rice in about 1000 hectare land, according to a recent study conducted by Ghayur Alam of the Dehradun-based Centre for Sustainable Development.
The study says that farmers in Dehradun district cultivating organic traditional Basmati earn Rs 4,243 per acre more than farmers cultivating high yielding varieties of rice through chemical farming. Similarly farmers in Udhamsingh Nagar district earn Rs 1,377 per acre more than those farmers resorting to chemical agriculture and growing high yielding varieties.
The study commissioned by the CUTS Kolkata Resource Centre suggests that conservation and commercialisation of all other traditional knowledge relating to medicinal herbs and rare species, if the growers get lucrative returns from an assured market and the traditional knowledge is protected through GIs and community rights are ensured.
The APEDA chairman, KS Money said that the government through his organisation is promoting the brand image of Indian Basmati abroad. APEDA is also responsible for promotion and encouraging exports of organic food, he said.

NRIs of Uttarakhand and development of the state
Posted by: "ram prasad" tnordramprasad@yahoo.co.in tnordramprasad
Sat Jul 19, 2008 2:21 am (PDT)
To
Uttarakhand Groups on Internet
Dhumakot Sangliya groups on internet are devoted exclusively to a single project that has been there for forty years. Approach is global and the focus is local.
The NRIs from Uttarakhand are as important people are as important in North America as from any other Indian State. Dr Bhakuni rose to a very important position in Good Year. He has invested his earnings on the Gyan Project in Uttarakhand. Dr NS Kapany is a Dehra Dun boy who is recognised as the inventor of fibre optics and these fibres were used in his work by Dr Basant Tariyal to rise to a very high position in communication field. He is the Chief of the Ekal Vidyalaya Sangthan which works in all parts of the World. Dr Kailash Joshi is known in the Silicon valley as organiser of TIE which is spread world over.
But these people eccept Dr Tariyal have not been active in activities of of Indian organisations in North America. They have concentrate on local activities related to Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand Association of North America was organised in 1998 while the Gopio which is the global representative of NRIs had started work from 1989.
Today the UANA stands divided in to threee groups. The Canadian Uttarakhandis had a separate organisation for quite some time and only a few months back UANA has divided itself into to UANAs. One is the Uttarakhand Association of North America and the other continues with the old name.
Dhumakot Sangliya International Group has been active for a few years. It is working for removing the hurdles that came in the way of the lens project in Uttarakhand that was initiated forty years ago. For this purpose we are taking Dhumakot Sangliya project as an experiment in the laboratory of Uttarakhand. This is being discussed in all forums world over. This project insists that the rural poverty cannot be tackled by the industrial approach or eBusiness alone. It requires iBusiness and the Uttarakhand project is a pioneering technological nursery. Unfortunately most of Uttarakhandis in UANA do not take the matter seriously. They even tried to block the mails just as Uttarayani organisation of Uttarakhandi officers is doing currently.
Kindly let us know your views about the division among NRIs belonging to Uttarakhand in North America.
