I ALSO STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE AMOUNT MUST NOT BE TRANSFERED TO MR. BHARATI'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT. And in future also, all help will go directly to hospital and not to the individuals as earlier the money was misused by the parient's family

Transferring Rs. 10,000 for tests is okey. But when alok will get admit in AIIMS for treatment we can convey our willingness to concerned authority in AIIMS that we would like to help financialy this patient (but before taking estimates of treatment). I dont think AIIMS will say no to it.

You people have done a lot work in this, so why just to wrap things you are making same mistake again.

I STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE AMOUNT MUST NOT BE TRANSFERED TO MR. BHARATI'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT.

This is to inform you all that PG Group Trustees & Board Members had a meeting at the Garhwal Bhawan on 5th July, 2008. As you may perhaps aware that PG Group, in association with UANA, has managed to collect Rs.1.5 Lacs for the treatment of Master Alok who is suffering from heart problem and need to undergo surgery at Apollo or AIIMS New Delhi. As informed earlier, patient's father, Mr. Bharti, has been requesting for transferring the money into his personal account but so far we have not transferred any amount into his personal account as PG Group is a registered group & also liable to file yearly income tax return with the Income Tax Department, hence money cannot be given to the patient's family directly. It can be given to the hospital authorities only once the request from the hospital is received by the PG Group.
 
I would like to inform you that the money has been collected based on the reports and estimates given by the Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. Mr. Bharti is no more interested in admitting his son at the Apollo Hospital saying that the doctors are not giving him any assurance of chances of survival of the patient.
 
For the members concerned, approx. Rs. 45,000/- are lying with the PG Group account and Rs.1.09 Lacs are with UANA, USA account. From the beginning we have been requesting the members/donors to either donate the money directly to the patient's family or thru the PG Group.
 
In the meeting it was decided that as a special case, an amount of Rs.10000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) will be given to the patient's family for getting the necessary tests done at AIIMS. Cheque for the above amount will be given to Mr. Bharti once we receive a letter from him.
 
I had a talk with the patient's father, Mr. Suresh Bharti, and conveyed him the decision taken by the PG GROUP TRUST. He is coming to Delhi today or tomorrow and the cheque will be handed over to him after receiving his request in writing. Balance amount will be given to him only after receiving proof of tests conducted by AIIMS or any other hospital.

Dear Sati Ji,
This piece of information, as available on the net, does not appear to be factually correct. As per the net version of this judgment, the date of judgment has been shown to be 23/02/2007 and case number has been mentioned as Appeal (civil ) 919 of 2007. However, a quick followup of the said reference on the courtnic site shows this to be an indirect tax matter and apparently not pertaining to the subject matter. The said judgment is in the case of Share Medical Care and pertains to customs duty exemption of certain medical equipments by charitable hospitals.

*Surendra Singh of GARHWAL qualifies for Olympics in 10000m*

India's *Surendra Singh* has improved his one month old national record in
the men's 10000m run with a new astonishing timing of 28:02.79s. Surendra
finished 4th in the Spanish Olympic trials 'Campeonato De Espana de 10000'
held in Vigo ( Spain).

Born in the farmer's family in village* Ghandiyal ( Chamoli District) of
Uttrakhand*, Surendra took early lessons in running unintentionally by
running daily 10km to attend *Govt. Inter College at Gairsain. *

Later he joined Garhwal Rifles regiment in 1999 as an ordinary entrant after
failing five attempts where he was rejected for the reason of unfit body.
Now Surendra will become the first athlete from Garhwal Rifle's 122 year old
history to participate in the Olympics.

Surendra first represented Army in the National cross country held in Simla
( 2003) which earned him his maiden international cap for India. His
brilliant run in the Asian Cross Country held in Pune in 2004 brought him in
the notice of Army Sports Institute where he trained for the next one year
before joining India's middle and long distance coach Dr. Nikolai Sneasrav's
army in 2006 at Bangalore.

"I couldn't believe I have made it" said elated Surendra after the race. He
further said
"Its been 2 years I was preparing for Olympics and finally all my hard work
has paid today".
Surendra was determined to achieve qualification and planned his race with
2min 49sec pace per kilometre but it was pace for the 2nd kilometre ( 2:43)
which put him in the fast lane along with Spanish runners and he kept
running consistently below 2min 50sec per kilometre before speeding up last
kilometre in 2min 38seconds to clock 28:02.89s.

Uttaranchal Association of North America (UANA) was formally established in
1998
as a non-profit, tax exempt organization registered under the laws of
Commonwealth of Virginia (VA), USA. Due to the term of the governing body of
UANA having expired in December, 2007, fresh elections were announced that took
place at the general body meeting on Saturday 28,
2008 in Virginia. Dr
Jagdish
C. Bhandari was elected as the President, Mr Sunil Kala the Vice President, Ms
Runjhun Saklani the Secretary, and Mr Vinod Jakhmola the Treasurer. Mr Mohan
Barthwal, Dr Roop Singh Bhakuni, Mr Naresh Bhatt, Dr Gopal Krishna Dhariyal, Dr
Harish Pant, Dr Sanjana Raturi, and Mr Ajay Rawat were elected as the Board of
Directors. The new office bearers were elected by a substantial majority of
verified UANA members on the record (physically present at the general body
meeting and via written proxy votes by those who for genuine reason could not
attend).

The UANA President, Dr Jagdish Bhandari, in his address to the general body,
emphasized the 'involvement' as the key theme. He also stressed on the
'democratic principles' and full compliance with the UANA Articles of
Incorporation, UANA Bylaws, and the policies established by the UANA Board. In
the spirit of involvement, the
general body voted in
favor of creating various
committees appointed by the UANA Board. The Communication Committee -
Coordinator: Dr Gopal K Dhariyal; and members are Mr Vinod Jakhmola, Mr Nitin
Bhatt, Dr Kumud Sanwal, Mr Ramit Bhandari, Mr Ajit Pant, Mr Anup Uniyal, Dr
Mohan Sanwal, Mr Bhupender Bohra, Ms Kumkum Fuloria and Ms Manju Chaturvedi.
Public Relations Committee - Dr Harish Pant and Dr Sanjana Raturi are the
coordinators. The Patrika Committee - Coordinator: Mr Ajay Rawat; and members
are Mr Anil Saklani, Mr Tarun Joshi, Ms Rachana Pant, Dr Jagdish C Bhandari,
and Mr Pritam Dimri. The Program Committee – Coordinator: Mr Sunil Kala; and
members are Ms Runjhun Saklani, Mr Ramesh Patwal, Mr Kewal Negi, Dr Surjeet
Mastwal, and Mr Devender S Chauhan. The UANA urges all of its members to get
involved in any way possible and encourages them to suggest any activity or
committee of their choice aligned with its

objectives.

UANA will host its 10th annual convention at Poughkeepsie, New York on July 26,
2008. On behalf of our proud New York UANA members who are excited to host the
convention for the first time ever in New York, UANA cordially invites all

that Padava spent their 14 yrs of exile in Uttarakhand. They
constructed several temples in UK during their stay here and
finally they went to Heaven from the Uttarakhand itself. There
are several places in UK which have connection with Ramanayana

The Wood Cutter
 

One day a woodcutter took his grandson into the forest for his first experience in selecting and cutting oak trees. These they would later sell to the boat builders.
 
 
As they walked along, the woodcutter explained that the purpose of each tree is contained in its natural shape: some are straight for planks, some have the proper curves for the ribs of a boat, and some are tall for masts.
 

 
 
The woodcutter told his grandson that by paying attention to the details of each tree, and with experience in recognizing these characteristics, someday he too might become the woodcutter of the forest.

A little way into the forest, the grandson saw an old oak tree that had never been cut. The boy asked his grandfather if he could cut it down because it was useless for boat building - there were no straight limbs, the trunk was, short and gnarled, and the curves were going the wrong way. "We could cut it down for firewood," the grandson said. "At least then it will be of some use to us." The woodcutter replied that for now they should be about their work cutting the proper trees for the boat builders; maybe later they could return to the old oak tree.

After a few hours of cutting the huge trees, the grandson grew tired and asked if they could stop for a rest in some cool shade. The woodcutter took his grandson over to the old oak tree, where they rested against its trunk in the cool shade beneath its twisted limbs.

After they had rested a while, the woodcutter explained to his grandson the necessity of attentive awareness and recognition of everything in the forest and in the world. Some things are readily apparent, like the tall, straight trees; other things are less apparent, requiring closer attention, like recognition of the proper curves in the limbs. And some things might initially appear to have no purpose at all, like the gnarled old oak tree.
 
 
 
The woodcutter stated, "You must learn to pay careful attention every day so you can recognize and discover the purpose God has for everything in creation. For it is this old oak tree, which you so quickly deemed useless except for firewood, that now allows us to rest against its trunk amidst the coolness of its shade.

"Remember, grandson, not everything is as it first appears. Be patient, pay attention, recognize, and discover."
