In fact what ever you are saying that is true.
As a humble activist of uttarkhand. I am very positive. I do not want any negative thing

But i can not close my eyes i am witness of Environmental public hearing of dams coming up in Bhagirathi and
in Alaknanda. i wrote  these things in my letter also. you know their are very different norms and rules in small and big dams.

some friends are talking about employment, do you know
their is no boundation for any dam builders for employment in their rehabilitation policy.
their is not even a single industrial training institute has been open in the dam areas.

because my organisation Matu peoples' Organisation raised the issue of 70% compulsory employment tolocals so Tiwari govt. made a rule for this. but this rule   never followed. this rule is in himachal  first but their is also same problem.

In Himachal I have visited dams build on Satluj, Byas, Sanj, Parbati, Rabi and seen the devastation of local environment--since bhakra to Baspa-II (on satluj) parbat-2 and 3 on Parbati etc. People are still crying for bad impact of dams. one can go and check today even.

In tehri dam--on avragte not more then 300 MW electricity is in production. after giving affidavits  filed in supreme court and in high court nanital tehri dam got permission for completion. Still main N.D. Juyal  and others vs. GOI and others case is pending in Supreme court--due to non implementation of environment conditions. more then one thousand extra oustees now recognize by survey of india. three village recognize by GSI. still people did not get suitable land. still nearly one lakh people of Pratap Nagar side looses their excess to health, fuel, District office etc. Partially affected villages nearly 40 are facing landslide due to 42 Sq. K.M. reservoir of Tehri dam.
 i am not agree with this kind of development. the total consumption of UKD is not more then 750 MW already 10,000 MW capacity dam got clearance. they are under construction.we have to see power for whom, who are the actual beneficiary and who are the real loosers. you will find
looser are poor villagers and the beneficiary are city based people or the vocal locals. NHPC is building Kotali-bhel phase 1 A, 1 B and phase 2. Pauri and tehri garwal going to effect badly. we raised question asking them to give all the details regarding dam in hindi. but no no and no. you please go through our blog <matujan.blogspot.com>.
we do not have funds otherwise we could have made one website so that you friends could get more information. i am sending one map of dams on bhagirathi. same faith is of every river in UKD or in every
Himalayan state.

But main issue is that these dams are not giving relife to Uttrakhand people as electic problem is common as earlier. Uttarakhandi Females are being harrased by Pilgrims

Hi All,

I was very shocked when I heard heartrending news from one of my friends. As
you all know that in these days four pilgrimage tours have been going on in
Uttarakhand. From various parts of India as well as abroad there are a lot
of devotees has been coming to Uttarakhand for taking a glimpse of natural &
sacred beauty of Uttarakhand. But some of culprits visitors especially from
Punjabi community are doing obscenity in nearby areas with our sisters,
mothers and children who are residing/walking/working in nearby areas. My
friends told me that in Joshimath nearby areas some of pilgrims are making
obscene comments on our own women strength even some times they are trying
to get molested them. My friends told me that if they find any women/girl
alone & in pairs they try to do obscene activity with them. My friend was
telling me that a fearful atmosphere has been created nearby areas. People
are very scared. My friend has already been filled a complaint against these
culprits at nearby police station of Joshimath but still no immediate action
taken by local police.

Really this is a very shocking news to all of us Uttarakhandi. This is a
thing of safety. Now our people are not saved in their house/home/areas. So
far our state was known for peace, simplicity and honesty but I think other
communities people are taking wrong advantage of our greatness. The
criminality has been entered in the Uttarakhand in the form of Pilgrimage
visitors. The word "Pilgrimage" is also being defaming by some of these
notorious people but friends this is a thing of our women safety. Who will
look on such activities/culprits?.We can guess how they are facing this
situation? What we can do for them? Some of questions has been bobbed up
which we have to answer.

Is only promoting tourism and providing best facility to pilgrims is our
main objective? Is it the end of responsibility of our Govt? How many people
of ours are affecting from these types of Yatra's, who will take care of it?
Some questions are really thinkable.

Dear friends how to prevent such things and what should be done by us as
well as our Govt in this regard?

If we will ignore it at this time then defiantly it will be become a major
problem to us in near future.
