Dhumakot Sangliya  International Group as iRajyasabha

Posted by: "ram prasad" tnordramprasad@yahoo.co.in   tnordramprasad

Fri May 16, 2008 5:40 pm (PDT)

To
Dhumakot Sangliya Groups on Internet

The purpose of this mail is to inform you what I wrote
to Harish Rawat member of the real Rajya Sabha with
copies to the local workers of the Dhumakot Sangliya
experiment. Of course Harishji knows that there are
two governments in Uttarakhand. One is the real
Uttarakhand headed by General Khanduri and the other
government is the Phatte ki Sarkar which is a column
in the Weekly Pyara Uttarakhand edited by Dev Singh
Rawat.

Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are members of
the Dhumakot Sangliya International Group. Some of
them were not in possession of internet facilities.
But their secretaries have e-mail addresses. Thus
all the members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha from
Uttarakhand are available. The proceedings of the
Dhumakot Sangliya group on internet are thus reaching
key politicians of the state. There are other
politicians and others in the Dhumakot Sangliya
International Group on internet.

The text of the e-mail sent to Harishji is given at
the end of this mail. He is on tour. But there are
other politicians from the Dhumakot locality. One of
them is Dhirendra Pratap who had a ministerial
position in Tiwari government. The other is Haripal
Rawat who is general secretary of Delhi Pradesh
Congress Committee. He is like an NRI having a
position in some country like Boby Jindal in USA.
I discussed the matter with them. They are simple
political workers with out any specialised experience
of politicians like Khanduriji and TPS Rawatji.

We value Uttarakhand groups on internet as an assembly
of Phatte ki Sarkar.

Kindly send your comments on this mail.

Ram Prasad

Mail sent to Harish Rawatji with copies to Dhirendra
Pratapji, Haripalji and to the Nainidanda Vikas Sangh.

I am writing this mail to you to explain the formula
in which we define the business of development as
Business = eBusiness + iBusiness.
It simply means the term intelligent industrialisation
of Uttarakhand. This was another term for the lens
nursery project which we now define as Dhumakot
Sangliya Experiment taking Uttarakhand as a
laboratory. You have been supporting this project for
a long time. Your seniors in this regard were Dr
Bhakta Darshan, Chandra Bhanu Gupta, HN Bahuguna,
Chandra Mohan Singh Negi, Maharaja Tehri and Narendra
Singh Bisht who are no longer with us and KC Pant and
Tiwariji. Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and Bachi Singh ji
have of course done work in finding physical support
for
the project following the initiative of Khanduriji and
Dhyaniji who offered to provide Rs two lakh each as a
token sum. Tiwarijis support is known world over as
he inaugurated the Seminar cum Workshop on
Technological Nursery at NPL for which Professor
Rosenbruch had come to NPL from Germany.

After the formation of Uttarakhand the political
leadership has come down to a very low level. We have
more seats in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha but the
effectiveness is missing.

The purpose of addressing this mail to you with copies
to Haripalji, Dhirendraji and Nainidanda Vikas Sangh
is to educate the Dhumakot Sangliya International
Group about the problems of development of
Uttarakhand.

You might have seen today's mail to Katyalji and other
members of the International Group in which I used the
formula

Rajyasabha = eRajyasabha + iRajyasabha
Where eRajyasabha is the one of which you,
Chaturvediji, Satishji and Dr Murli Manohar Joshi are
the members and iRajyasabha is the Dhumakot Sangliya
International Group only in relation to the project.

The iRajyasabha mail does not concern the project
only. It is a global problem. But it focuses on the
point that Dhumakot Sangliya politics has the support
of the experience of two persons who may be new to
ePolitics but who have been generals in the army.
They have the virtue of iPolitics of science and
technology.

Let us free Uttarakhand of half politics. Let
Uttarakhand show the world what complete politics is.

Dear PG Group Governing Body Members

I got an e mail in which my fellow members of the PG group
have mentioned about irrregularties commiteed by ex president of
the Garhwal Sabha The allegations may or may not be valid. Only
a court could prove this . What I would like to say to the PG
group is that PG group should be carefull not endorce this type
of news or views on the PG group web site I think.that this
group, was only originally setup to help our sisters and brothers
from Pauri garhwal. Please do not allow this paltform to be used
by anyone as a tool for defaming others for their personal
beneftis. As I said that this news may be valid but We have to
think twice before allowing this kind of view to be expressed on
this website. Please note that this is a social group and not a
politcal group. We should not indulge in such politics in any
manner.

leadership has come down to a very low level. We have
more seats in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha but the
effectiveness is missing.

The purpose of addressing this mail to you with copies
to Haripalji, Dhirendraji and Nainidanda Vikas Sangh
is to educate the Dhumakot Sangliya International
Group about the problems of development of
Uttarakhand.

You might have seen today's mail to Katyalji and other
members of the International Group in which I used the
formula

Rajyasabha = eRajyasabha + iRajyasabha

Dear Lingwal ji.
In my opinion, both of you, Ram Prasadji and your goodself are right. Today
it is no secret that those who have been left in the mountains are there not
by choice, barring a few exceptions, but by circumstances as they have
nowhere to go.I agree that these people are the one who speak the
Garhwali/Kumaoni language and are keeping alive our old traditions of dance,
folk music, rituals etc. It is also true that one does not live on culture
alone, because , had that been true, people would not have migrated to
greener lands, be it within the country or outside the country. And believe
me, it is but natural to mingle with the environment where one lives . Do in
Rome as the Romans do !

The important question is how to improve the lot ( financial) of the people
in the mountains so that they do not find the urge to migrate.rest is all
academic.

Uttarakhand Groups on internet

I am attaching here with two files. One of them is
the Document Dhumakot in Hindi and the second is the
font with which this works.

This has been extracted from the document Gumod
Parikrama which is in Hindi.

During recent years groups like PG Group, GK Group,
Foundation Shurwaat, Uttarakhand Club, YUGroup, UANA
and Creative Uttarakhand have started field
activities. These field activities are related to
awareness campaigns, scholarships, old age pension,
help to individuals suffering from critical deseases.

Dhumakot Sangliya groups are also there. Pyara
Uttarakhand weekly has a column on Phatte ki Sarkar or
Gumod Parikrama. Uttarakhand is a laboratory.
Dhumakot Sangliya is an experiment in this laboratory.
The Centre for Policy research is also doing some
work. Recently it has released a book by Dr Murli
Manohar Joshi.

The attached file describes what the project is and
how did the former PM Chandra Shekhar took interest in
the project. It also describes why noted journalist
Mrinal Pande criticised Professor Indiresan.

Kindly take follow up action.

Development of Uttarakhand People who live in Uttarakhand

Dear Ligwalji,

The comments on your second e-mail are given in the
attached document.

You want to know why am I comparing the invisible
Institute of iBusiness with the magestic Institute of
Advanced studies in Shimla. The attached comments may
not make things clear to you.

The Institute of Adanced Study is housed in a building
that was in occupation by the Viceroys of India who
moved to Shimla during summers. The building had
official support during the British days. It has
official support in the independent India.

Official support is eBusiness. eBusiness supports the
elites. But it has the power and ability to do
things. This ability and power can be made to help
the people who are note elites. But this requres
understanding of iBusiness which is man centred.
eBusiness is machine centred.

The concpet of technological nurseries will determine
the direction and parameters of iBusiness. Dhumakot
Sangliya experiment is the pioneering technological
nursery.

Thanks for your contribution to the Institute of
iBusiness.

Regarding sight-seeing Kausani & Mukteshwar are best. For Adventure sports , there are other places. If u want a place closer to Delhi , then something else can be suggested.
Ironnically except Almora, Nainital & Mussorie , there are no developed Hill Stations , but the scenic beauty is the best in the world. There are chances that the Airfield in Pithoragarh may open to commercial airlines very shortly. The srrounding places arround Pithoragarh are superb.
One must also consider Lansdowne & see the Museum of Garhwal Rifles HQ & the Animal Trophies of last 150 years in Garhwal Officers' Mess.

Pl. inform me in detail , then I can guide u better.

Sunil Thapliyal

Institute of iBusiness vs Indian Institute of Advanced Study

Dhumakot Sangliya Groups on Internet

In the Dhumakot Sangliya International Group Rayalaji
is not happy over the news about news regarding the
release of a book written by Dr Murli Manohar Joshi
by Professor MGK Menon.

We have a concept of the Institute of iBusiness.
Rayalaji is an active worker in this institute. He
does his work in America. The Institute of iBusiness
works in India in the Himalayas in which there is the
Institute of Advanced Study.

The Institute which is housed in a majestic building
in Shimla came there on the 20th October 1965. It
grew to become 'an internationally recognized centre
of high creativity and excellence'. It had its years
of dormancy but after that it grew and is still
growing to achieve new vistas and conquering new
horizons.

The Institute is financed primarily by Ministry of
Human Resource Development, Government of India. It
has some income from the sale of its publications; and
the entry fee charged from the tourists. The annual
expenditure of the Institute; which includes salaries,
contingent expenditure, and maintenance of buildings
and the library, is over five crore of rupees. The
expenditure on academic programmes like fellowships,
seminars, lectures and publications is provided in the
Plan estimates of the Institute and varies from year
to year.

Professor Menon has been one of the Minister of
Science and Technology in the Government of India.
Professor Joshi has in addition to being the Minister
of Science and Technology has also been the Minister
of Human Resource Development under which the Indian
Institute of Advanced Study functioned.

Both of these people supported the Dhumakot Sangliya
experiment. Professor Menon worked very closely with
Professor Burhop who was the President of the World
Federation of Scientific Workers. He did not hesitate
to become Chairman of the International organising
committee of the first ever conference of the World
Federation of Scientific Workers in a developing
country that is India.

Professor Burhop was critical of Professor Menon for
not working enough for eradicating poverty in India.
During his first Indian visit Professor Burhop was
invited for breakfast by Professor Menon, then the
Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bombay. The
residence of Professor Menon was facing a locality in
which poor Indians were live. He was not able to
understand why a person like Menon was unconcerned
about Indian poverty.

Whatever be the case these two people did what they
could do for the country. They are insignificant in
the broader concept. Both of them do not understand
iBusiness. But does the Indian Institute of Advance
Study understand iBusiness? The institute of
iBusiness exists but it is not visible. It has to be
understood in terms of what is visible.

How can poverty be eradicated if the country does not
spend on the concept of technological nurseries? The
Government spends at least rupees five crores on the
above visible institute. Let us make use of what is
spent on eBusiness by creating a room for iBusiness.

The purpose of commenting on the forwarded message
attached is to focus on iBusiness of Gumod Parikrama.
I write Gumod Parikrama daily in Hindi. Selected
issues of this daily are reproduced in the weekly
Pyara Uttarakhand as a column. The title of this
column is "Phate ki Sarkar" that is the Government
that is on a road side bench. It is known as Khel
Uttarakhand Sarkar". What the real government does in
Uttarakhand it is taken as iBusiness and this work of
the real government is reflected as iBusiness in Gumod
Parikrama.

When their were elections in Uttarakhand, George Bush
and Bill Gates were concerned about taking advantage
of the development. Gumod Parikrama said that the two
came to the Phatta and hid themselves to hear what the
Phatte ki Sarkar was talking about the coming
elections in Uttarakhand. This was a symbolic
expression that has been reflected in the forwarded
messages attached. Congress came to power. There
were deals with eCorporations. Congress has now been
defeated BJP has come to power. While George Bush is
concerned about the prosperity of the middle class in
India and the forwarded messages attached shows the
similar concern of the Phatte ki Sarkar of USA, the
title of the current issue of the column Phatte ki
Sarkar in Gumod Parikra says: "Intenet has become the
ocean of knowledge"

I therefore request the Dhumakot Sangliya
International Group to discuss the message. Let the
other groups also keep informed.

Dear Ram Prasad Ji,
Kindly refer to your e-mail with the subject "United_Uttaranchal Institute of iBusiness vs Indian Institute of Advanced Study". Your e-mail on the above cited subject is proving to be vague in it's sense. Kindly do clarify that are you pondering on the issue of I-Business or the infrastructure of the Institute of Advance Studies located at Shimla? The language structure of your e-mail is more or less equivalent to an enigma. Hitherto I'v read your two e-mails but have failed to decipher your ideology. Earlier you had passed a sarcasm for the residents of the hilly terrains over the issue of their mother tongue, "Garhwali/Kumaoni" terming them as "Poor" and now this new topic.
Sir, instead of passing sarcasms and being captious on the left over hilly terrain residents you are requested to be pragmatic with your vision especially with your language structure so that the readers may promptly be able to judge the significance of your views and do something for the betterment of the Uttarakhandis.

Padma Awardees Felicitated in NDL

Posted by: "Chandan Dangi" cdangi2001@yahoo.com   cdangi2001

Tue May 13, 2008 6:18 am (PDT)

Dear friends,

We have had a grand gathering at the Teen Murti House. The
Felicitation
of the Padma Awardees on May, the 9th was yet another attempt
made by
PAHAR, which went off well. Even though the function began later
then
originally scheduled time since the rehearsal at the Rashtrapati
Bhawan
was delayed. Finally we received Dr. MC Pant and his family
first,
followed by Dr. RK Jain, Dr. RK Pachauri
http://www.climatescience.gov/Library/bios/pachauri.htm
<http://www.climatescience.gov/Library/bios/pachauri.htm> and
finally Shri
Tom Alter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Alter
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Alter> with his respected
mother.

Before arrival of the dignitaries, we have had some cultural
items,
starring Sh. Heera S Rana's MANILA DEVI's VANDANA and Myor Pahad.

A standing ovation was what we should call as respect and love
for the
special guests of the evening.

Dr. TS Papola http://isidev.nic.in/facPapola.html
<http://isidev.nic.in/facPapola.html> an old friend of Dr.
Pachauri and
senior member of PAHAR presented a special hand made JAUHARI caps
to 4 guests, which is a new tradition being introduced by the
Team PAHAR for its Silver
Jubilee celebrations during 2008.

Dr. Sekhar Pathak formally introduced the recipients of 2008
Padma
awardees. Dr. RK Jain in his address highlighted the importance
of being
born in the hills of Uttarakhand. Dr. MC Pant, having born in
Ranikhet
mentioned about his experience on the poor health conditions in
the
hills and his awareness programs and papers. Shri Tom Alter stole
the
show by his special appearance also being his profession. But,
the
recitation of an Urdu GAZAL described the true meanings of
mountains, nature the mother earth. The poem was mesmerising.

Dr. RK Pachauri revelation of being a hill man was a big
surprise for many.
He had studies in the lap of nature around him and the work he
has chosen has a strong bearing by virtue of a son of the
Nainital. He is presently leading over 3,000
environmental scientists around the globe on the burning issue of
the CLIMATE CHANGE and had shared the Noble Prize together with
Al Gore for 2007

ml
>

The program continued till 11PM and many participants were glued
to
their seats for the splendid narration of Uttarakhand GATHA by
Dr.
Sekhar Pathak.

The function could not be conducted in very professional manner,
specially the stage management but the contents, the wisdom words
from
the eminent personalities and finally the quality audience of
+300 made it
successful. There is always a scope of further learning and
improvements.

Institute of iBusiness vs Indian Institute of Advanced Study

Posted by: "ram prasad" tnordramprasad@yahoo.co.in   tnordramprasad

Tue May 13, 2008 6:21 am (PDT)

To

4a. Relation between Shiv and number 108

Hi,
For past some time trying to research on the value of number 108 in hindu mythology. I have seen many blogs and sites plus consulted some books. What I have got is that lord shiv is often represented by a hexagon (i.e. two equilateral triangles crossing each other upside down). This is normally taken as triangle facing upward as sign of man and triangle facing downward as a sign of women. This exactly matches with the name of shiv as ARDHA-NARISHWARA.

But 108 number actually is associated with Pentagon and not Hexagon as the internal angle of pentagon is 108 degrees.

Now I am confused how to relate Lord Shiva with 108. Shiv is clearly associated with 108 in hindu mythology. 108 names of shiv, etc..

I would welcome any such studies from anyone of you..

Waiting for your responses..

Thanks
Chandra Sekhar Joshi

Dear Joshi Ji,

There is a long list of associated parameters with 108; like 12 zodiac signs multiplied with 9 planets (vedic astrology), 27 nakshatra with 04 'charans' (27 x 4, again vedic astrology), etc. etc.

Dear Ram Prasad Ji,

Hello!

Hope that you must be up to the benchmarks of your
health. I have just gone through your views on our
Garhwali/Kumaoni dialects. Kindly condone me but your views in
this regard are not highly impeccable. Why to talk about the
American Culture and Civilization, when our own culture and
civilization is being jeopardized by the Western Culture? I have
always come across with people who are just enchanting about the
enriched culture and modernization of various developed countries
like UK, USA etc. But our own country is put to ignorance which
is itself excellently enriched in cultural and biological
diversities. People who have haunted abroad are always busy in
sketching a rosy picture for others who have never ever thought
of going abroad, provoking them to sell their legacies to see the
fantasy world. But what happens is on contrary, Indians are
usually kicked out of these countries as aliens or are just
brutally exploited. But the dignity of Indian hospitality segment
is highly accepted world wide.

Secondly terming the ones who are left behind in the hilly
terrains as "Poor" by you is not justified at all.
They are not at all poor by any means. It's the inculcated
love for their motherland which resists them to sell their
legacies and be expatriates like us. They have enriched culture
and adamant thoughts/beliefs than of ours which is self
explanatory that why these people prefer to have conversations in
their own mother tongue rather than to adopt the alien languages.
The lament thing is that it's the young progenies of the
present clans which is reluctant to be a symbol of their
ancestral first language. And I feel no shame in terming such
progenies as 'hapless products'.

With the perpetual efforts of the Literary Scholars/Researchers,
'Dogri' which once used to be a dialect of Jammu
has now gained the privilege of being one of the Indian Language
with it's script being derived from Devanagari. Though
it's a kind of lingua franca but has gained it's
pace since it's existence, but nothing is being done to
save the dignity of our mother tongue,
"Garhwali/Kumaoni". Though English has been
declared as a lofty language across the world but how many of the
Indians are holding an impeccable knowledge of this language is
not hidden from us. So it's an appeal to you and others
that kindly don't go on passing out sarcasms for those who
are still residents of hilly terrains. It's their mother
tongue and the culture gained in legacy which has been
captivating them and not because of their incapability that they
are still residing in the non-plushy hilly terrains.

3. How the world can feed its hungry billions?
Posted by: "hemanshu joshi" hemanshu10@yahoo.com hemanshu10
Date: Mon May 12, 2008 12:32 am ((PDT))

Hi
I came across a good article and thought of sharing it with you
Enjoy!!!
How the world can feed its hungry billions
11 May, 2008, 1000 hrs IST,Subodh Varma, TNN
In the past year, spiralling food grain prices and worldwide food shortages have resurrected the spectre of a hungry world, roiled with unrest and political upheavals. Several theories have also been brought out of the closet to explain, or rationalize, this haunting vision.
One of the most popular and abiding theories is the one first proposed by British political scientist Thomas Robert Malthus two centuries ago. In simple terms, he propounded that population will grow till it outstrips food production, and then famines, wars and epidemics will intervene to restore the balance. Is the present or impending food crisis, the vindication of Malthus?
Too many mouths to feed
In 1950, the world's population was about 2.5 billion. Sometime in 1999, it crossed the 6 billion mark - a phenomenal increase of 3.5 billion in about half a century. According to the United Nations Population Division, the world population would be somewhere between 8 and 11 billion by 2050, depending upon what factors you take into account. They suggest a middling figure of just over 9 billion. That's another 3 billion added in 50 years. These figures appear to suggest that it may indeed be difficult to feed everybody in the future.
However, let's take a look at how food grain production has grown in the past 60 years. In 1950, world food grain production was 631 million tonnes (MT). It increased by about three times to 1,843 MT by 2000, and further to 2,075 MT in 2007. Thus, between 1950 and 2007, the population increased by about 2.6 times but grain production jumped by 3.3 times.
A simpler way of looking at this is to divide the total grain production by the total population - then we get the amount of grain available per person. In 1950, each person had 248 kilogram of grain. In 2007, this increased to 314 kg. Similar increases have occurred in the whole range of food needed by humans - meat, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, sugar etc.
The impression of the Malthusian prophecy coming true arises because you see so many hungry people in the world - 800 million at least, according to UN estimates. But, if these food production figures are true, then why is there hunger? The short answer is - because food is not available equally to all. But that is another tale.
Limits to growth
It is also being argued by some that in the future, food production will not be able sustain the burgeoning population. Surely, there is a limit to how much the earth can yield.
There is some truth in this. There is a limit to cultivable land, which is currently 11% of the 13.2 billion hectares of the total land area of the planet, the rest being taken up by forests, settlements, grasslands etc. There is also a limit to water.
But the real question is not how much can be produced but how much does man need. If everybody was to start consuming as much as, say, the Americans consume, then obviously the earth will not be able to sustain it. At the current population of about 6.7 billion people, a US-level per capita consumption of 1,046 kg would require world production of nearly 7 billion tonnes of food grain - three and a half times the present production. The earth would become a wasteland by 2050.
But the question still remains - can the earth feed an additional 3 billion people in the next 50 years? The answer, surprisingly, is yes. The reason is that the full potential of agriculture is yet to be realized in most parts of the world.
North & South
Consider this: in the vast continent of Africa, the total harvested area under cereals is 98.7 million hectares, from which about 146 MT of cereals are produced. In North America (US and Canada), the harvested area for cereals is 71 million hectares but the production is 398 MT. They are producing 252 MT more despite cultivating 20 million hectares less land! In other words, Africa has a vast potential to improve its agricultural production.
A similar situation exists in various other parts of the world. This discrepancy is better measured by checking out the yields per hectare of land. Thus, for every hectare of land, China produces 6,265 kg of rice, while Nigeria has to make do with just 1,440 kg, and India with 3,124 kg.
In general, this is a division between the rich and poor countries. Cereal yield per hectare is about 4 tonnes in the developing world, while it is over 6 tonnes in the advanced countries.
It's not just cereals - in other crops too, there is this vast difference. Vegetable production per hectare is just over 10 tonnes in Africa and 9.6 tonnes in South-east Asia. But in North America, it is 26 tonnes and in Europe it is nearly 21 tonnes.
The reasons are essentially that in the advanced countries of the West, much more and better resources have been available to the farmers. If similar resources are made available to farmers in India or Bangladesh or Gabon and Burkina Faso, there is no reason why they too will not increase the yield tremendously. And this in turn will provide the much-needed food for their populations.
To achieve this would be to resolve the food crisis, as well as the endemic poverty that grips most of the third world. But it requires a monumental shift from the current path of development, and a reordering of priorities, both domestically and internationally. The ruling politicians have a pretty bad record on these matters. Perhaps the current crisis will make people force them to change.
How can we produce more food?
A slew of policy measures is needed if India has to step up its agricultural production. Water is the most important necessity for farmers. Consider this: in India, 56% of food grains is produced from 47 million hectares of irrigated land while the remaining 44% is produced from 95 million hectares of rain dependent land. Crop yields will shoot up with investment in irrigation, supplemented with soil testing and scientific application of fertilizers. The other important aspect that needs to be handled urgently is land reforms.
Huge swathes of land lie inadequately cultivated in large holdings, in violation of ceiling laws. If these are redistributed to needy sections, productivity will zoom up. Marketing is another aspect that requires attention. A network of centres connected by roads and transport vehicles, where farmers can sell produce, would ensure better prices for them and thus ensure that they maximize production.

Dear friends,

We have had a grand gathering at the Teen Murti House. The
Felicitation
of the Padma Awardees on May, the 9th was yet another attempt
made by
PAHAR, which went off well. Even though the function began later
then
originally scheduled time since the rehearsal at the Rashtrapati
Bhawan
was delayed. Finally we received Dr. MC Pant and his family
first,
followed by Dr. RK Jain, Dr. RK Pachauri
http://www.climatescience.gov/Library/bios/pachauri.htm
<http://www.climatescience.gov/Library/bios/pachauri.htm> and
finally Shri
Tom Alter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Alter
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Alter> with his respected
mother.

Before arrival of the dignitaries, we have had some cultural
items,
starring Sh. Heera S Rana's MANILA DEVI's VANDANA and Myor Pahad.

A standing ovation was what we should call as respect and love
for the
special guests of the evening.

Dr. TS Papola http://isidev.nic.in/facPapola.html
<http://isidev.nic.in/facPapola.html> an old friend of Dr.
Pachauri and
senior member of PAHAR presented a special hand made JAUHARI caps
to 4 guests, which is a new tradition being introduced by the
Team PAHAR for its Silver
Jubilee celebrations during 2008.

Dr. Sekhar Pathak formally introduced the recipients of 2008
Padma
awardees. Dr. RK Jain in his address highlighted the importance
of being
born in the hills of Uttarakhand. Dr. MC Pant, having born in
Ranikhet
mentioned about his experience on the poor health conditions in
the
hills and his awareness programs and papers. Shri Tom Alter stole
the
show by his special appearance also being his profession. But,
the
recitation of an Urdu GAZAL described the true meanings of
mountains, nature the mother earth. The poem was mesmerising.

Dr. RK Pachauri revelation of being a hill man was a big
surprise for many.
He had studies in the lap of nature around him and the work he
has chosen has a strong bearing by virtue of a son of the
Nainital. He is presently leading over 3,000
environmental scientists around the globe on the burning issue of
the CLIMATE CHANGE and had shared the Noble Prize together with
Al Gore for 2007

ml>

The program continued till 11PM and many participants were glued
to
their seats for the splendid narration of Uttarakhand GATHA by
Dr.
Sekhar Pathak.

The function could not be conducted in very professional manner,
specially the stage management but the contents, the wisdom words
from
the eminent personalities and finally the quality audience of
+300 made it
successful. There is always a scope of further learning and
improvements.

How Dhumakot Sangliya Groups came into being

Dhumakot Sangliya Groups on internet

Dhumakot Sangliya groups on internet are discussing
matters of global concern. Tiwariji was to visit
Dhumakot twenty years ago. Shailendra Krishna was the
DM then. He is currently secretary to UP Chief
Minister Mayawati. Tiwariji was the Chief Minister
Uttar Pradesh then. Tiwariji could not visit Dhumakot
then. But he could visit Dhumakot years later as
Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. By then he had become
Nauchami Narayan. Poet Narendra Singh Negi had made
him god after taking voluntary retirement as the
Information officer of the district where Dhumakot is
located. Tiwariji was to visit Adalikhal which is a
rival or complementary school in the same area to
inaugurate the Seminar "How Green would be Deval Garh
Valley". The title was given to the local touch a
global sounding. How Green was my valley was a best
seller that had become the best movie of its time.

The seminar was very successful internationally and
Parvatitya Times published material on Tiwariji'actual
visit. But there was another seminar organised by
the products of the Dhumakot school who had become
VIPs like NRIs. It was necessary to add something to
their effort. Came Dhumakot Sangliya Groups on
internet.

Let us recall recent event at the ground level. The
report is added at the end of this mail.

A Get-together of Ex- students and Teachers of
Dhumakot School (Pauri Garhwal) was organised at
Dhumakot on 6 to 7 May 2006. On 6th May the meet was
inaugurated by the present oldest teacher and an ex-
student Shri Pancham Singh Rawat. The session was
presided over by Shri Govind Singh Rawat retd, DIOS
and an ex- student of the school. At the assembly,
immediately after the national anthem, the students of
the school sang Swagat Geet in honor of their
seniors. This was followed by the key address by the
present Principal Shri Anand Singh Bisht who is also
and an ex-student of the school. The Principal touched
various points and aspects of the history &
achievements of the school and remembered those who
made hard efforts to promote education in the area by
establishing and developing this school. His address
has been given due coverage in the local print media.
During the introduction session many of the
participants while remembering their early days of the
school
were seen emotional. Shri P.N. Madwal from Delhi
informed that a tremendous enthusiasm among the
ex-students and teachers for this meet was seen though
many of them could not attend the meet due to their
some other important commitments. He thanked the
Principal of the school and his team for making the
best arrangements for boarding and lodging of the
participants. Shri D.B. Dhyani appreciated the
greenery developed around the school.
At the end of the last session of the day a two
minutes silence to pay homage to all the late
ex-students and teachers was observed.
A sightseeing trip to Khaliondanda and Diva temple
was made in a group by the participants. Apart from
seeing some of the watersheds development in nearby
areas, some of the participants also visited
Digolikhal, Nainidanda, Gujudugari, Jadaukhand and
Dungri.
Next day i.e. on 7th May one hour yoga session
particularly for the present teachers was organized
with a view to passing on the same to their students
which was guided by Shri Bhagat Singh Bisht from
Mumbai. After beakfast issues relating to the
Education-Health, Tourism and development were
discussed in three sessions of the day. In his
presentation Dr. Juyal explained, among other things,
the basic requirements for the construction of
houses in the seismographic zones and the need of
roof-top rainwater harvesting. In my submission I was
of the opinion that we as individuals can motivate
domestic tourists to this area in our own way and this
get-together itself was an example thereof. I felt
that there is a need to make the villagers and
particularly the women aware of the one / two child
family. Further I was of the view that we should
encourage poor to imagine that where they would like
to see their respective families after 10/ 15 or 25
years and ac
cordingly obtain an undeclared commitment from them
to fulfill the same. Block Pramukh Smt. Madhu Bisht
and Up Pramukh Shri Arjun Singh Patwal also
participated in the discussion and explained the
various developmental activities of the Nainidanda
Block. At the end of the session S/Shri N P Juyal &
Govind Singh Bisht and Shri Gabarr Singh Bisht were
felicitated with shawl and coconut as oldest students
and teacher respectively. A vote of thanks was
proposed by S/Shri B.S. Bisht & A.S.Bisht. This two
days meet was enjoyed as a camp life by the
participants which was also a small beginning to
think for the betterment of the society and likely to
be repeated in the coming years. We wish that others
may replicate it in their respective schools.

which was guided by Shri Bhagat Singh Bisht from
Mumbai. After beakfast issues relating to the
Education-Health, Tourism and development were
discussed in three sessions of the day. In his
presentation Dr. Juyal explained, among other things,
the basic requirements for the construction of
houses in the seismographic zones and the need of
roof-top rainwater harvesting. In my submission I was
of the opinion that we as individuals can motivate
domestic tourists to this area in our own way and this
get-together itself was an example thereof. I felt
that there is a need to make the villagers and
particularly the women aware of the one / two child
family. Further I was of the view that we should
encourage poor to imagine that where they would like
to see their respective families after 10/ 15 or 25
years and ac
cordingly obtain an undeclared commitment from them
to fulfill the same. Block Pramukh Smt. Madhu Bisht
and Up Pramukh Shri Arjun Singh Patwal also
participated in the discussion and explained the
various developmental activities of the Nainidanda
Block. At the end of the session S/Shri N P Juyal &
Govind Singh Bisht and Shri Gabarr Singh Bisht were
felicitated with shawl and coconut as oldest students
and teacher respectively. A vote of thanks was
proposed by S/Shri B.S. Bisht & A.S.Bisht. This two
days meet was enjoyed as a camp life by the
participants which was also a small beginning to
think for the betterment of the society and likely to
be repeated in the coming years. We wish that others
may replicate it in their respective schools.

Namaskar! to all members of PG Group.

Recently i have joined this group and i have read all the valuable suggestions/ messages/views etc. In this regard I want to say something and i think this is very important i.e. we should all have to do something for our own language Garhwali. Because in our own houses usually we never speak in Garhwali specially with our kids. Aur jiske gharo main dada dadi hain wo to phir bhi samagh lete hain jinke gahron main nahi hain wo bacche apne culture apni bhasha ke ghyan se wanchit hain. whenever our children will grow they cant speak or understand our own language and this is very sad. specially those who are living in cities. Even i cannot speak our mother tongue we can understand but cant speak fluently. Can we communicate with each other in Garhwali may be with this effort we can write or speak our own language. I feel very pity when i cannot converse with my children in Garhwali.

Regards and love to all PG Group

In America the first generation of people from
European countries spoke their own languages. They
organised colonies like new England. The second
generation was confused but from the third generation
onward they became all Americans.

The history repeats itself. The main point is what
are we going to do for the poor people who have been
left behind in mountains? These people know only
Garhwali and Kumaoni languages.

Dear Dr Dimri, Mr Thapliyal, all concerned,

The products listed i.e. Hinsol, kilmor, kaafal,
ghingaroo, payinya (giri), bedu, aalmor, buraans, etc.
are all very useful but most of them are wild fruits.
The utility, as known,is given for each of them.

Hinsol: Non-Nut yellow /brown fruit tastes sweet when
ripe. Occasional fruit for cow-herds, birds, monkeys,
bees etc. in hilly regions of UA. Found in Europe
also. Where this fruit is found in abundance it can
surely be put to different usage like juices, jams,
sweet chutneys, thus these can also be preserved.

Kilmor: ( as above) It's root is being put to use and
is being rooted out and sent to mandis at high cost as
a forest product for medicinal use.

Kaafal, Buraans: ( as above)Its juice is tasty and has
high medicinal value to control many dreaded diseases
. These are available in summer seasion. Commercial
use has been initiated by Associations of ITBP, local
people, Fruit Preservation deptts locally in small
measure.

Timla: Its very useful tree- broad leaves, good for
fodder, serving plates in pooja & other festivities.
Its fruit when ripe tastes sweet, green fruits are
taken for vegetables, saag, patora. Its kasela but
nutritious.

Kanaali/Sison: Abundantly available in low & high
altitudes, with variation in quality & utility,
in UA. Its saag prepred by beating it, is a good
fodder for milk giving baffalows in winter. Soft &
clean kanaali also used for making green saag which
tastes far bettr than sarson ka saag. Its warmth
giving in winter. Once this saag was served on Maduwe
ki roti to starving Angrej in pre-independence era in
high hills of UA, that angrej enjoyed the saag &
retuned the plate ( maduwe ki roti) with thanks to the
village lady.

Its an effort to share information for wider
research.
Hope, its taken in right perspective.

Nice Artical

Sun May 11, 2008 11:53 pm (PDT)

This article is really worth reading..... .....
Stronger Rupee = Stronger INDIA
Let me ask a question first.
What type of economic strength is preferable to India?
A) A strong Indian economy fueled by its cheap labor due to a
weaker rupee against dollar, where the Indians end up working in
shifts, late nights, whole nights and what not… only doing
low profile jobs which foreign companies want to offload to
India, so that they can concentrate on high end works and become
even better. For instance in IT field, providing BPO services,
support and maintenance work for products…
OR
B) A strong Indian economy fueled by its strong innovations and
products, no matter whether the rupee is strong or weak against
dollar.. where Indians work only in regular office hours of 9 to
6, developing cutting edge technologies and solutions, selling
our world class products both inside and outside India. For
instance in IT field, imagine operating systems, compilers,
databases etc all coming out of India..
I do not deny the fact that the IT boom in India came to a large
extent because of (A). Well and good, we have had the benefits of
our cost being cheap in western markets due to a weak rupee
against dollar.. We have had our share because of this advantage
in the past 2 decades..
But at the same time doesn't it make sense to move towards (B),
instead of crying foul against rupee becoming stronger against
dollar?
What a pity! Indian IT companies are feeling bad because rupee is
becoming stronger against dollar! Reason, their profits will go
down when the value of rupee is stronger, as every single dollar
that comes into their account now means lesser rupee than
earlier..(if for instance earlier they used to get 47 rupees for
every dollar that comes in, but today its about 40!)
But isn't this a matter of celebration? Our rupee is gaining
importance internationally and is becoming stronger again .
How many of us know that in 1947 when India got independence 1
Rupee was 1.2 US dollars?
These Indian IT companies instead of relying on a weaker rupee
for their profit should now look at coming out with innovative
products and technical solutions. What have these companies done
in the arena of core system products? Why don't we have any
operating systems, compilers, database systems, development
platforms etc coming out of India? Why don't we develop tools
like photoshop or flash? We have talent, but they all are working
in American companies on these products.. Cannot our Indian IT
companies setup at least small teams to develop such products?
Instead they are planning to make their employees work on
saturdays too ! So that their profits can increase due to extra
hours the employees put in.. As if India doesnt have any other
option other than cheap labour, workaholic labor!! Are there no
brains in India who can setup companies developing products and
make money just by printing out more serial numbers and burning
their product DVDs?
If Indian companies continue to depend on its weak currency, then
how would Indian economy survive in a world where all currencies
have equal value? Survival of the fittest.. Only greater
innovation can help us in that case..
We need to have knowledge and technological advantage if India
wants to become a superpower, not low cost based cheap labor
advantage! Let the Chinese do it..
I hope that rupee becomes more and more stronger so that Indians
are forced to use their brains and come up with innovative
products and next generation technologies, than to provide low
end services…
We need to create a situation where other countries line up to
buy our F-16s, to buy our operating systems, to buy our mobile
phones and I-pods, to buy our Boeing, to buy our Mercedes…
A stronger rupee means we can easily afford foreign trips!
" A stronger rupee means Indians can buy things anywhere in the
world on par with developed economies! We dont have to spend
crores of rupees then to buy a Boeing! We don't have to pay tens
of thousands of rupees for international air travels! A stronger
rupee means greater international exposure! There wont be a
difference between buying a Maruti and buying a Mercedes! One can
go on a trip to the Grand Canyon just like the way one goes to
Ladakh or Nepal ! How do you think american citizens are able to
tour all over the world? Because they earn more? No. But because
their currency USD is stronger.. and this is where a strong rupee
will lead us to!…"

Don't put your mobile closer to your ears until the recipient
answers, Because directly after dialing, the mobile phone would
use it's maximum signaling power, which is: 2watts = 33dbi.
Please Be Careful. Please use left ear while using cell (mobile),
because if you use the right one it may affect brain directly.
