I would like to share with a website (www.ghughuti.com) with an objective of providing an interactive platform to Uttarakhandis. We have so many websites on Uttrakhand/ Uttranchal but we never had an interactive website before, which has concept of social networking. This website provides us all that features which we need from an interactive site, chat, blogs, quizz, polls, gallery, news, games, music, video, my village, forum, etc..

I will also be in Basel on May 19th and May 23rd. If you are there on these dates, we can meet. I will have some time available on 19th in the evening. Let me know if that will work for you.
It takes about an hour from Zurich to Basel via train and the frequency is very high specially in the morning hours.

A Delhi Based NGO (which is working for rural development of Uttaranchal) is opening a Office in Delhi shortly. They need a Uttarakhadi person, who will take care the following:

i) Office Coordination work in Delhi
ii) Monthly visit of project area in Uttarakhand
iii) Marketing of Native Products in NCR

The monthly remuneration will be Rs.4500 plus actual travel expenses. After six month, he will be reviewed.. The candidate must have basic Computer knowledge and should be minimum 12th Pass and belong to Uttarakhand.

It is requested to kindly suggest suitable candidate for the above task. Short listed candidates will be interviewed on 27th April, 2008 at 1.00 PM.

Also they need suitable place for their Office or space of one desk. If anybody have such space in his office, kindly contact them. Otherwise suggest a low rent room in any locality (preferably Uttarakhandi Locality).

Dear Friends,

A Delhi Based NGO (which is working for rural development of Uttaranchal) is opening a Office in Delhi shortly. They need a Uttarakhadi person, who will take care the following:

i) Office Coordination work in Delhi
ii) Monthly visit of project area in Uttarakhand
iii) Marketing of Native Products in NCR

The monthly remuneration will be Rs.4500 plus actual travel expenses. After six month, he will be reviewed.. The candidate must have basic Computer knowledge and should be minimum 12th Pass and belong to Uttarakhand.

It is requested to kindly suggest suitable candidate for the above task. Short listed candidates will be interviewed on 27th April, 2008 at 1.00 PM.

Also they need suitable place for their Office or space of one desk. If anybody have such space in his office, kindly contact them. Otherwise suggest a low rent room in any locality (preferably Uttarakhandi Locality).

Thanks a lot for the information provided.
This solution is gud for only those people who are in reachable areas of Delhi but ppl like me who are far away from Uttrakhand and delhi can't visit Alok's father. So we need to have some account number or any other medium through which we can contribute for Alok.
I talked to Alok's brother and he gave me a number to talk with Alok's father unfortunately that number is going out of range. I think we need to think about the solution. Any idea please let us know, i wud love to accept it.

Yesterday night master Alok's father had called up (I do not know from where he got my mobile number) and explained to me everything. He was in Rishikesh and trying to meet the authorities for obtaining BPL (below poverty line) card but I have been informed that he could not succeed in getting the BPL card as nobody in the department was ready to help him. He has also written a letter to the President of India.
For seeking financial help, Alok's father is sending a formal request to PG Group alongwith a copy of the letter written to the president today, which is expected to reach us within this week.
As per Alok's father, Apollo Hospital has asked them to deposit Rs.1.25 Lacs immediately and the total expenditure including stay will be approx. Rs.2 Lacs.
He has also informed me that if he succeeded in getting the BPL card, the hospital authorities will not charge him the other charges (bed & food charges). I have also given him assurance that his case will be taken up with the media (AAJ TAK), so that funds can be raised. But this will be done once Alok is again admitted in the above hospital.

5.: HOW TO CONVINCE SOMEBODY

The ability make others believe what you believe is important for success in many fields. There is often a fine line between convincing somebody your views are valid and annoying them. In this article we'll look at some of the techniques you can use if you want to convince another individual to believe what you believe.

Steps
Do the homework. Make sure you understand your own viewpoint. If you are going to try to convince somebody that the Eiffel Tower is taller than the Statue of Liberty, find out the facts first, don't make assumptions.
Learn the field. For certain areas you will need to know more than just the facts, as some subjects are subjective. For example, if you wanted to convince somebody that the Statue of Liberty was prettier than the Eiffel Tower you will need to know enough about architecture and aesthetics to argue about that subject, as well as the facts, like how tall they are. If you are selling something, like a car, you will need to know all there is to know about the car you are selling. Likewise, you will need to know all about the other cars that are in competition with your vehicle.
Engage the person politely. Maintain eye contact where possible, but don't be annoying about it.
Establish mutual respect. You will never convince anybody of anything if they believe you do not respect them, so show the person you respect them and be good enough to gain their respect.
Gain trust. To convince people of most things you will need their trust. They don't have to trust you as a person, but they do need to trust that what you are saying makes sense, that you know your "stuff". The best way to do this is to do your homework and fieldwork, that way you know a lot about the subject.
Listen carefully to what your debate partner has to say. Respond thoughtfully to their point of view.
When you can, back up what you say with real facts. Lying will only convince somebody until they find out about the lie, then you will never be able to convince them of anything again.
Be willing to be convinced. Sometimes accepting one point from the other person and showing that you can change your mind when you are wrong will help them to be the same, and change their mind about the subject you care about.
Practice active listening. Active listening helps you control a conversation and keeps it on track. Active listening techniques include:
Non-verbal feedback. Nodding your head as the other talks etc.
Paraphrase what the other person has said to make sure you understand it.

Make sure you understand the other person's objections and respond to them in an intelligent manner.
Keep vigilant about your belief, but always respectful of the beliefs of others. Explain why your belief is important to you.
Understand the other person's motivations. If you know what another person wants, you are more likely to be able to give it to them.
Rephrase your beliefs in a way that the other person is better able to understand.
Follow up. Ask questions to make sure the other person understands their new views completely.
Tips
To hold the eye of a crowd select individuals in the crowd and hold their eyes on-and-off through your presentation.
Never lose your cool. Nothing lacks conviction more than a raving idiot.
Always be friendly and respectful even if the other person does not change their mind.
Beliefs fade. You may think you have changed somebodies mind but find that in a day or two, perhaps a week, they are right back to where they were before.
Buy and read some books on sales techniques.

By doing this, it can help you not only to share your ideas properly to others, but also to learn communicating with others. Here are a few steps to consider when speaking with confidence.
Steps
Learn how to have conversations with people. Your ideas or opinions may not always be accepted by others, but this is nothing unusual. Open your mouth, express your beliefs! This will improve your courage.
Don't be afraid and speak loudly. If you speak in a low voice, not only will others not be able to hear what you say, but you will also portray a submissive demeanor, which suggests the opposite of a confident one.
Make eye contact when you speak. For one thing, it is polite for others. Also, eye contact will help others to listen to your thinking carefully.
Praise yourself everyday! This will promote your own confidence, which is important when you speak. With more confidence, people will take your thinking more seriously.
Tips
Don't be nervous when you make mistakes. Human error is far from being a new concept — nobody is perfect! It is normal for everyone to make mistakes. Just calm down and keep speaking bravely.
Try and try again! This may be difficult for a shy person at first, but you need to force yourself to speak, and not seclude your thoughts. If you have some ideas, then try to speak out! Don't just keep them in your head.
If you have self confidence issues, try to think that you are the only one who has sound knowledge about the topic. Then go ahead and impart your knowledge to the audience in an effective way.
Remember that there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Don't portray an exaggerated amount of confidence, or you will come off as arrogant, believing that your ideas are better than the ideas of everyone else.

have listed the following public speaking techniques, that should help you overcome fear and anxiety. It would help you deliver a speech without feeling nervous. I have found great success in these techniques!

Smile. This will help you ease your mind and make you feel comfortable in your surroundings.
Take deep breaths. This is an oft repeated tip but it always helps you start. Avoid taking deep breaths in between, as it might sound weird.
Tell yourself there is nothing to worry about. The words to live by are, "Don't worry, be happy". What is the worst that is going to happen after all?
Loosen your muscles and relax. Being stiff on stage will make everyone think you are nervous.
Have a good sense of humor. If you mess up, have a good joke to back it up, makes you seem like you are under control.
Keep an OPEN mind. This relaxes you and just makes you feel better.
Practice. This isn't for everyone, but it helps most people. If your speech is well rehearsed it will be fine. Also try to deliver as many public speeches as you can (for eg. at Toastmasters), it will surely help you gain confidence!
Feel free to move around. (this one is more for a classroom, not a business setting for the most part) When you move, it makes you seem like you are happy, but don't be robotic with the movements.
Keep good eye contact, this might not help you, but it will help the audience like you. If you have trouble with this, pretend that someone did something funny.
Try to include the audience. Many times people think you can't include the audience, but you can. This makes you seem like your not the only one talking, because you aren't.

This has reference to several mails exchanged in the PG Group on the subject matter.

Please note that yesterday night I had a detailed discussion with the father of 12 years Alok, who is suffering from the heart disease. As per his father, Alok is being treated at Apollo Hospital and the hospital has asked them to deposit Rs.1.5 Lacs for conducting necessary surgery. Father of the patient is coming to Delhi in the first week of May'08.

It is advisable to all the members to please contact him on his mobile # 09410130477 (reachable after 8 PM) and it is also suggested to directly give the money / cheque to him instead of sending it to some unknown accounts. Since, he is coming to Delhi in the 1st Week of May'08; you can directly talk to him over phone and handover the money/cheque after checking the facts with him.

This solution is gud for only those people who are in reachable areas of
Delhi but ppl like me who are far away from Uttrakhand and delhi can't visit
Alok's father. So we need to have some account number or any other medium
through which we can contribute for Alok.
I talked to Alok's brother and he gave me a number to talk with Alok's
father unfortunately that number is going out of range. I think we need to
think about the solution. Any idea please let us know, i wud love to accept
it.

I talked to Alok's brother and he gave me a number to talk with Alok's father unfortunately that number is going out of range. I think we need to think about the solution. Any idea please let us know, i wud love to accept it.

Thirteen years ago, when Prabha Devi of Indi village (in Tehri district of Uttarakhand) lost her husband in an accident, she was only 34. Her relatives, with the understandable callousness of the very poor, chose to turn away from this young widow with three young daughters and an old-and blind-father-in-law to support. Left all alone with no savings or assets, Prabha had to decide and decide fast on how to keep hunger at bay.

She finally chose to throw all taboos out of the window, picked up the bag containing her husband's tools of trade, and became the first female barber in the area. "I could not stand the pain of hearing my children cry for food, day after day," Devi told the villagers.
Faced with a determined young mother in search of a job, people in India usually ask, angrily, "Why?" The village elders of Indi were no exception. They were also unhappy with Devi's decision as she wished to handle what had always been a man's job in their village. But, even as they expressed their frank disapproval, they also sympathized with her as only the poor and the asset less can, with those who are even more helpless.

They finally decided that unless they could, like good neighbours, provide food and money for the indigent family, they had little moral right to demand a sacrifice in the name of tradition. So, they looked the other way as Devi began her trade. Soon, she came to be accepted as a skilful barber and villagers started going to her for their customary hair cuts and shaves.

But, a problem now arose over payments. Since the villagers considered it demeaning to pay cash to a woman of their own village, they chose to pay her in kind. Their logic was, that the family would at least be guaranteed regular meals. But, families do not live by bread alone. Devi, who wished to send her daughters to school, offered and was allowed to carry out other traditional chores performed by barbers all over India for a fee. This included distributing invitations for functions connected with births, deaths, marriages, and sacred-thread ceremonies in the surrounding villages, massaging neonates and handling brides' traditional toilette.
This generated the much-needed cash. A little later, Devi also began to cultivate her tiny farm. As income from various sources grew, she began sending her daughters to school so they would not miss out on education.

Today, the daughters are all married and Devi is one of the most respected members of her community whom the villagers seek out when they are in trouble. Devi's story challenges the stereotypical, if not sexist picture most of us have, of the Dalit widow in rural India. For one, it shows that rural societies are not prisons where everyone is locked into a traditional role, based on caste and gender. They are living, breathing organisms who care for their own. Here, tradition may often be quietly tweaked when it is a question of sheer survival. It also proves that socialization does not always determine the reactions of human beings. If it did, no tradition or behavioural pattern in society could ever be challenged. True, caste and gender hierarchies are constituted by an intricate process of objectification of women, but the story of Devi is evidence that the objectified may not always turn into "things" who sit passively on the sidelines, forever resigned to their lot.

And, Devi is not the only one. We also have Bhanwari Devi, the village worker who was raped for daring to oppose illegal child marriages and who fought on. Then there is Irom Sharmila on a fast unto death in protest against a detested law in Assam. The fact is that despite the enormous forces ranged against them, women in our villages are not flat objects with no will of their own. They are capable of making radical choices and working things out by negotiating each advantage when they must. In time, a string of such adjustments begins to affect and revolutionize the way several other needs are perceived and met by women.
In the case of Devi, the act of asserting her right to work outside her home and earn an honourable living, made her realize that to survive with dignity, it was also essential to take on forces other than tradition.

Once, there was an urgent need to stop the local timber mafia from felling trees illegally. Village ponds and springs were fast disappearing, spelling doom for the crops and leading to tedious treks to far off water sources. So, Devi led her fellow villagers to the forest department and asked the officials to throw the timber thieves out. When her demand for justice made no difference, she convinced the villagers to take things into their own hands. So, they came out on the roads and managed to stop and unload several trucks carrying timber from the area illegally.

Her daughters are a little fearful about their mother's activism. They feel that the timber mafia is strong and will not hesitate to harm their mother. But, Devi remains undaunted. She told us that she is not afraid of the corrupt officials or the timber thieves as long as the villagers are with her. To be sure, at the moment the dice appears to be loaded against the poor. They are barred from entering and collecting forest produce or challenging the timber mafia who may hoodwink the same law with impunity. But, this does not mean that villagers such as Devi will be reconciled to being playthings of ineluctable forces. The asymmetry of power, as Devi has realized, is man-made and, as such, totally capable of being subverted by men and, of course, women.

There is a 12 years old boy Alok from pauri Garhwal, he is
surfing serious health problem for the since his
birth. He is Suffering from sever heart disease, Nature
didn't justice with him, He has only three chambers in his heart
(two atrium & one ventricle). Generally two atrium & two
ventricles in human body due to this, he has very poor blood flow
in his body, he is very week and can't walk. He need surgery of
heart but expense is very high, Dr Raja Joshi –MBBS, MS, Mch
(ctvs) Senior Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon in APOLLO
HOSPITAL is ready to do his surgery free of cost but expense of
Hospital is around 1.15 lacs to 1.25 lacs but his father is
farmer in pauri Garhwal can't affords this expense. As guys we
know he is future of our country as well as our state and he also
have full right to live a happy life so friends plz support to

There is a 12 years old boy Alok from pauri Garhwal, he is surfing very big problem last 12 years by birth. He is Suffering from sever heart disease, Nature didn't justice with him, He has only three chambers in his heart (two atrium & one ventricle). Generally two atrium & two ventricles in human body due to this, he has very poor blood flow in his body, he is very week and can't walk. He need surgery of heart but expense is very high, Dr Raja Joshi –MBBS, MS, Mch (ctvs) Senior Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon in APOLLO HOSPITAL is ready to do his surgery free of cost but expense of Hospital is around 1.15 lacs to 1.25 lacs but his father is farmer in pauri Garhwal can't affords this expense.
As guys we know he is future of our country as well as our state and he also have full right to live a happy life so friends plz support to Alok and his family.

I am scheduled to visit Belgium and Switzerland during the second week of May 2008. From Brussels (Belgium), I intend to travel to Basel, Switzerland, via rails as this would give me ample opportunities to see the Europe. Kindly let me know if I can get such a direct rail connectivity from Brussels to Basel. If yes, please write back your inputs giving details like station name(s), changer-over if any etc. etc..

Yes, you are right, its really amazing via rail, you can get the train from different locations like BRUSSELS -MIDI, -CENTRAL, -NORD, or - LUXEMBOURG depending upon time and convenient location, those take you to d Basel, SSB, service is really gud and frequent. I hope there are other service providers too, still i felt raileurope very convenient, you can even book the ticket online as per your convenience, here u go wid d link

Both way ticket should be in between 120-130 USD. the total journey wud b arnd 350-400 miles and been covered in 6-7 Hrs.
You also have options for different type of trains like eurostar or TGV etc. (more can be found on www).
